he first 400 cataract surgeries performed by ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Konstantinos Chatzinikolas were successfully completed. In all these cases, the intraocular lens power calculation was carried out using the IOL Master 500, the most advanced biometry device worldwide, which measures and determines the exact lens power to be implanted in the eye after cataract removal.

Lampalizumab, which appears to be the first drug with the potential to treat geographic atrophy of the macula, has entered phase 3 clinical trials. The studies will also investigate whether individuals with a specific genetic biomarker, a mutation in complement factor I, may benefit from treatment with lampalizumab.
